KARUM

Anatolia, today’s Turkey, located in the heart the Old World namely, Europe, Asia and Africa, has always been an appealing trading center. As early as 2000 BC the wealthy Assyrian merchants established hundreds of trading posts throughout Anatolia. During this period these trading colonies were known as KARUM which, in the Assyrian language, means trading post. Today, the aim of our company KARUM is to promote Turkish products, folk art and handicrafts together with their timeless stories.

We have chosen Phoenix, the immortal and mythological bird, as the logo for KARUM. Our logo is a copy of an original ivory seal that was found at archaeological excavations carried out during the 1950’s at Beycesultan site located in Civril, Turkey. While shopping with KARUM, you will also have the opportunity to travel through time by becoming familiar with the Ancient Civilizations of Anatolia and also witness the development of arts and crafts in region through the ages.
